Description

German Republic State gold Proof Essai 100 Franken 1955-(a) PR67+ Cameo NGC, Paris mint, KM-E7, J-N804, Schaaf-S393. Mintage: 50. Perhaps the most sought-after numismatic production under the Saarland banner; the rare gold trial pieces of the 1955 100 Franken, which was the largest denomination issue coined for Saarland, struck in copper-nickel for circulation purposes. The limited mintage ensures fleeting opportunities for acquisition; this issue last appeared at Heritage as a part of the Archipelago Collection from 2022. The specimen on offer is the sole-finest certified example across all major grading parties, obviously quite significant as such.
