1877-S $10 AU55 NGC....
Description
1877-S Ten Dollar, AU55
Challenging West Coast Issue
1877-S $10 AU55 NGC. It would be another year before gold
coin would be available at face value in terms of paper money and
silver coin, although on the West Coast gold coin circulated as
usual. The 1877-S is scarce in any grade from its 17,000-piece
mintage. It becomes very scarce in Choice About Uncirculated or
finer grades, with only a few Mint State examples known. Light
abrasions dot the surfaces of this AU55 coin, which retains
plentiful mint luster throughout the rich and pleasing orange-gold
color. The sharp strike remains intact and eye appeal is strong for
the assigned grade.(Registry values: N2998)From The Brittany Legacy Collection, Part I.
