Description

Waldeck-Pyrmont. Friedrich gold 20 Mark 1903-A MS64+ NGC, Berlin mint, KM195, Fr-3869. A type so seldomly encountered that it immediately generates a stir among Empire specialists, especially considering this circulation strike is far rarer in high end MS than in Gem Proof. The flan oozes a decadent luster that spreads uniformly while offering precision details, even in the areas most exposed to wear. Perhaps it's the ever-so-slight chatter in the obverse field that prevents a Gem assignment though no one would be surprised to see this exquisite piece in said holder. Nonetheless, this is the finest known to NGC with just one example graded higher at PCGS. Worthy of consideration for a premium bid.
