1875 Twenty Cent in Silver
Judd-1399, PR66 Cameo
Popular 'Liberty by the Seashore' Design

1875 20C Twenty Cents, Judd-1399, Pollock-1542, Low R.6, PR66 Cameo PCGS. Ex: Simpson. The popular "Liberty at the Seashore" obverse design with an arc of 13 stars above and the date below. Liberty is seated facing left and holds an olive branch in her right hand and rests her left hand on a globe with the word LIBERTY inscribed. A sidewheeler is seen in the distance, and behind Liberty a wheat sheaf and two flags can be seen. The reverse is similar to the design used for regular coinage, except for minor leaf position changes. Struck in silver with a plain edge. About a dozen pieces are known today in silver, with additional examples known in copper, aluminum, and nickel. The cameo effect is pronounced on each side with dazzling deep mirrors and frosted devices. Pale golden-rose toning.
