1879 Morgan Half Dollar in Copper
Judd-1602, PR67+ Red and Brown

1879 50C Morgan Half Dollar, Judd-1602, Pollock-1797, R.7, PR67+ Red and Brown PCGS. Ex: Simpson. The obverse is similar to that used on the regular issue Morgan dollar. The reverse depicts a stiff-necked eagle with spread wings perched atop an olive branch and a bundle of arrows. The legend UNITED STATES OF AMERICA is at the top, the denomination HALF DOLLAR is below, and the motto IN GOD WE TRUST arches around and below the eagle's portrait. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. Only a dozen examples are believed known in copper and silver. The surfaces display fiery red, original mint red with occasional splashes of blue interspersed on each side (more so on the obverse). Fully struck with no obvious or detracting marks on either side. Undoubtedly, this is the finest Red and Brown example known of the Judd-1602.
