Description

1882 Liberty Five Cents in Nickel
Judd-1687, PR64

1882 5C Liberty Head Five Cents, Judd-1687, Pollock-1889, Low R.6, PR64 PCGS. Ex: Simpson. Similar to the adopted design of 1883 No Cents nickel, with the addition of the motto IN GOD WE TRUST at the upper obverse border. The obverse stars are also arranged differently. Struck in nickel with a plain edge. This transitional pattern is primarily found in nickel, as seen here, but it is also known in copper (unique) and aluminum. Light golden toning is seen over each side with much underlying original brilliance. The fields are highly reflective, a trait that is not always a given on nickel products.
