1877 Morgan Half Dollar in Copper
Judd-1523, PR67+ Red and Brown

1877 50C Morgan Half Dollar, Judd-1523, Pollock-1687, R.7, PR67+ Red and Brown PCGS. CAC. Ex: Simpson. The obverse is similar to the Morgan dollar, but the head of Liberty is surrounded by a beaded circle, with 13 stars and E PLURIBUS UNUM around the edge. The date 1877 is below. The reverse features an eagle over a seven-pointed shield, the motto IN GOD WE TRUST to the left, above, and right of the shield. The entire design is enclosed within a wreath with UNITED STATES OF AMERICA around and HALF DOLLAR below. Struck in copper with a reeded edge. Only three or four examples of Judd-1523 are known and two additional pieces exist in silver (Judd-1522). This piece is struck in medallic alignment. Significant mint red remains on each side with the balance consisting of royal blue.
