1878 Morgan Dollar in Silver
Judd-1550a, PR66 Cameo

1878 $1 Morgan Dollar, Judd-1550a, Pollock-1725, Low R.6, PR66 Cameo PCGS. Ex: Simpson. The obverse is similar to the adopted design, with only minor differences. The eagle on the reverse is noticeably different with respect to the neck and wings in particular, and the olive branch in the talons has only three leaves. Struck in silver with a reeded edge. Copper examples are also known. Two variants are known of the Judd-1550a. This variety is most readily identified by the raised M on Liberty's neck instead of incuse. Other minor design positioning differences are also seen on the obverse. This is slightly more available than the other 1550a variant with just over a half dozen pieces confirmed. This piece retains much original brilliance with just a hint of light golden color on each side. The fields display extraordinary depth of mirroring, against which is set thick mint frost over the devices.
