1869 Indian Cent in Aluminum
Judd-671, Snow-PT1c, PR65 Deep Cameo

1869 P1C Cent, Judd-671, Pollock-747, Snow-PT1c, High R.7, PR65 Deep Cameo PCGS. CAC. Ex: Simpson. The regular Indian Head cent dies for 1869. Struck in aluminum with a plain edge. According to Saul Teichman of USPatterns.com, "fewer than half a dozen examples are believed to exist. These were deliberately struck for sale to collectors as part of complete off-metal sets." In the 1892 sale of the Woodside Collection, New York Coin & Stamp catalogers David Proskey and H.P. Smith noted that just five sets (cent to double eagle) had been produced in aluminum. This Gem enjoys completely brilliant surfaces and Deep Cameo contrast. The fields are lightly striated on each side. Visually impressive and perfect for an advanced Indian Head cent collection.
