W-1730, No Wreath, Copper Planchet
1778-1779 TOKEN Rhode Island Ship Token, No Wreath, Copper MS62
Brown PCGS. CAC. Betts-562, W-1730, R.3. The word at the bottom
of the obverse, below the ship, has been scraped away in large
part, though fragments of lettering remain. Both sides are luminous
with generally blue-brown color, though a few tiny brassy streaks
from improper metal mixture, reminiscent of the "halo" splasher on
St. Patrick's coinage, dot each side. Minimally marked for the
grade assigned. Listed on page 50 of the 2014 Guide Book.
