1814/3 O-101a Half Dollar, MS63
Lustrous, Late Die State

1814/3 50C O-101a, R.2, MS63 PCGS. Nearly all examples of this overdated variety come from a late state of the dies, designated O-101a in the Overton reference. This example displays a long crack through the left-side stars, across the cap, and down through the right-hand stars. An additional, heavy crack runs beneath the date. Both sides exhibit multiple die clashing. Attractive steel-blue toning at the lower-left quadrant merges with lustrous, silver-gray shades with olive-gold highlights. Population (with overdate): 3 in 63, 6 finer (8/17).
