Description
1836 HM-6 Classic Five, AU58
1836 $5 HM-6, R.3, AU58 NGC. HM-6 is a relatively available die marriage found on about 25% of surviving 1836 examples. Glistening yellow-gold surfaces retain most of their luster on this lightly marked, near-Mint coin. The strike is sharp, although about half of the stars lack varying degrees of central detail. We note a solitary small mark near star 4, and a faint abrasion near Liberty's eye. Occasional orange accents add eye appeal. This is an ideal type coin, close to full Mint State with vibrant eye appeal. From The John W. McCloskey Collection.
