Description

1873 Trade Dollar, MS63
First-Year Issue With Great Eye Appeal

1873 T$1 MS63 PCGS Secure. The 1873 Philadelphia was the first P-mint issue in the newly introduced Trade dollar series, struck in an amount approaching 400,000 coins. Most of the production was shipped to China, as evidenced by the large majority of chopmarked survivors. Mint State survivors are scarce. Great eye appeal is the hallmark of this Select example, showing good luster amid hints of rose on the obverse and gold and pale blue on the reverse. Sharply struck and a great candidate for type coin purposes. Population: 36 in 63, 66 finer (11/15).
Ex: FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2008), lot 1887.
