Description

1909-S Indian Cent, MS66 Red
Only One Finer at PCGS
None Finer at CAC

1909-S 1C MS66 Red PCGS. CAC. Ex: Perfection 1. The San Francisco Mint began operations five years before the introduction of the Indian cent, but they were so busy producing silver and gold coins that the smaller denominations such as the cent and nickel were delayed several decades until the first small cents were coined there in 1908.

Although PCGS has certified 20 examples as MS66 Red, they have only certified one finer piece (12/15). CAC has approved just two of those examples in MS66, including this brilliant and highly lustrous Premium Gem. Both sides of this lovely piece are pristine with light orange surfaces.
