Description

1865 Gold Dollar, MS66
Low Mintage of Only 3,725 Pieces

1865 G$1 MS66 PCGS. The 1865 gold dollar is scarce at all grade levels, and this Premium Gem is one of a mere handful of examples so graded by PCGS out of the low mintage of only 3,725 pieces. The design elements evidence sharp definition, and the fields are prooflike. Die polish lines are noticeable across the obverse, where mint-made strike-throughs occur near and over ES in STATES. Pleasing copper-gold and pale green coloration adorns each side of this unabraded piece. Population: 7 in 66 (1 in 66+), 5 finer (7/19).
Ex: FUN Signature (Heritage, 1/2008), lot 3693.
