Description

1873 Seated Dollar in Copper
Judd-1274, PR66 Brown

1873 $1 Seated Dollar, Judd-1274, Pollock-1416, High R.7, PR66 Brown PCGS. Struck from regular issue dies, but in copper with a reeded edge. IN GOD WE TRUST is die doubled, as seen on the silver proofs. Per USPatterns.com, "struck for sale to collectors as part of complete off-metal sets." Examples were also struck in copper and aluminum. While labeled Brown, there are significant patches of original muted red still present on each side as well. Blue and brown patina is also intermixed throughout. The strike details are pinpoint-sharp on both obverse and reverse. An exceptionally attractive example of this off-metal striking.
