Heritage's Denver 2006 Platinum Night and Signature Auctions Set to Sizzle
Heritage Auction Galleries' Denver 2006 Platinum Night and Signature auctions, taking place August 13 & 14 at the Warwick Hotel, will offer more than $25 million in fresh rare coins in nearly 5,000 lots. The lots on display in Denver will also include nearly 3,500 lots of certified U.S. coins that are being auction in the OnLine session. Details on session times and location can be found at the Heritage website HA.com/Coins.
"Bidders will have a rich and exciting assortment of numismatic treasures to pursue in Denver," enthused Heritage President Greg Rohan. "With nearly 8,500 lots, ranging in value from less than $100 to more than a million, there is material for collectors at all price levels. More than 500 consignors in the Denver auctions, including 22 anchor consignors. Many of the coins have been off of the market for decades. If you feel light-headed after viewing all of these enticing rarities, it will certainly be more than just the elevation in America's Mile High City!"
"The highlight coin of the Denver Platinum Night on August 14," continued Rohan, "is the amazing 1861 $20 Paquet MS61 PCGS from the Philadelphia Mint - one of only two known examples of this important rarity. Lot 5623 has been certified by PCGS as MS61, and there are some real gaps in its pedigree - so this coin still has some stories to tell! This is the fourth rarest regular issue coin in American numismatics, right behind the unique 1870-S half dime, the 1873-CC No Arrows dime, and the 1870-S three dollar gold piece. Engraver Anthony Paquet's 1860 design is an important rarity that is absolutely necessary for a complete set of Liberty double eagles."
