Heritage Auctions Leads Coin & Currency Auction Market Again With a Record $76.6 Million in Sales

DALLAS, TEXAS: Heritage Numismatic Auctions (HNAI) and Currency Auctions of America (CAA) posted $76,664,096.08 in coin and currency auction net sales for 2002, making it the leading numismatic auctioneer, by a wide margin, for the second year in a row. $76.6 million is significantly above last year’s total, and represents the highest numismatic auction sales by any company in any year.

All numbers include Heritage’s 15% Buyers Premium, but do not include direct private treaty sales. These figures only include those items that actually met reserve and do not include consignor buy-backs.

Heritage was also the #1 collectibles auctioneer in America, with total auction net auction sales of $93,284,938.77. In its first full year of operation, Heritage Comics Auctions posted total auction net sales for calendar 2002 of $17,620,842.69, at least tripling the previous annual comics and related popular culture sales record for any auction firm. Note: Heritage’s very first comics auction, in November 2001, realized “only” $960,649.05.
