Heritage's Latest Exclusively Internet™ Sale Soars Over $100K

Dallas, Texas: Despite the wisdom of the adage, "Good things come to those who wait," Heritage Numismatic Auctions, Inc.'s latest Exclusively Internet™ sale proves that, sometimes, good things can come earlier than expected. Conducted between January 19 and 25, the sale recorded an impressive prices realized of $118,823. "Our goal was to realize $100K per week through these sales by June, but we've already sold almost $120,000 worth of coins in this memorable sale," said Holli Hughes, Heritage's Exclusively Internet™ consignment coordinator. This achievement, coupled with the fact that 69% of the lots sold, made this sale, in Heritage Co-Chairman Jim Halperin's words, "…our largest Exclusively Internet™ sale ever!"

Among the coins leading the pack were a pair of desirable quarters. An originally toned 1818 Capped Bust quarter graded MS 64 by NGC realized $3,200 and a Condition Census 1850 Liberty Seated quarter MS 64 NGC traded hands for $3,800. A Choice BU survivor of the heavily circulated 1894-S Barber half dollar issue that had been certified by PCGS traded hands for an impressive $2,500. A 1936-S Walking Liberty half dollar, a common issue in lower grades yet decidedly rare in the MS 67 grade certified here by NGC, brought $2,700.

Morgan dollars and U.S. gold extended their streak of strong EI sale performances when an NGC certified 1904 silver dollar in MS 65 fetched a solid price of $2,500. A gorgeous 1854 three dollar gold piece MS 64 PCGS sold for $5,500, the single highest price in the sale, and a 1912-S Indian Head eagle certified MS 64 by PCGS followed closely at $4,700.

An 1822/1 Capped Bust half dollar encapsulated at the AU 55 level by NGC brought an astonishing $1,050. The issue lists for $700 in MS 60 in the Coin Dealer Newsletter (commonly referred to as the Greysheet). Whether it was the popularity of overdate Bust coinage, or the originality of the steel-gray surfaces, there can be little doubt that this coin's realized price helped to make an already important Exclusively Internet™ sale even more special.
