Heritage's Exclusively Internetâ„¢ Sales Continue to Exceed Expectations

Dallas, Texas: Flush from finally breaking the $100K barrier last week, Heritage Numismatic Auctions, Inc.'s nineteenth Exclusively InternetTM sale closed one week later on February 1. A total of 326 lots sold (67% of the 485 lots offered), and realized $108,857. A record 232 bidders participated, 131 of whom were successful. According to Heritage Co-Chairman Jim Halperin, "Our EI sales have really turned into a home run. We constantly seem to set new records, which are promptly surpassed the following week or two -- though I doubt we'll break last week's for awhile!"

"The fact that our latest sale broke $100,000 again simply amazes me," exclaimed HNAI Director Bob Korver. "And this just one week after we finally passed the $100,000 mark! There is no limit to these sales' potential, and I suspect that the upward trend will continue into the foreseeable future."

Holli Hughes, Heritage's Exclusively InternetTM consignment coordinator, added: "In addition to their escalating prices realized, our EI sales are continuing to show remarkable diversity. Conditionally rare Morgan dollars, C and D-mint gold, and Lincoln cents are just some of the many specialties that have performed well in past sales. Originally toned, high grade 19th century silver coins dominated this $108K sale, proving once again that our Exclusively InternetTM sales offer something for all numismatic tastes."

Seated Liberty coinage enjoyed widespread popularity in this record breaking sale. An 1849-O dime MS 64 NGC, one of the four finest certified survivors between both major grading services, realized $6,000. A bid of $2,600 secured an 1840-O Drapery quarter MS 64 NGC and a popular 1854 Arrows quarter graded MS 65 by NGC traded hands for $4,100. The single highest price realized in the sale was a sum of $7,250 that a satisfied customer paid for an 1860-O half dollar MS 66 PCGS.

Among the other coins that turned in strong performances was a pair of Gem Uncirculated Capped Bust half dollars. Both certified MS 65 by NGC, the 1825 fetched $4,500 and the 1826 sold for $4,300. An equally attractive 1893 Isabella commemorative quarter MS 66 NGC brought $2,300. As Hughes alluded to above, all of these coins displayed beautiful original toning. With a new EI sale beginning every Wednesday and ending every Tuesday night at 10:00 CST, the list of coins that distinguish themselves in these auctions will continue to grow in both length and diversity.
