Heritage Realizes More Than $10.5 Million in November New York Signature Sale

Dallas, Texas: A six-session sale held by Heritage Numismatic Auctions at the Warwick Hotel in New York City over the weekend of November 7 to 10 achieved over $10.5 million. The prices realized will climb further as bidders compete for Post-Auction Bargains currently posted at www.HeritageCoin.com.

“Key dates in all series brought exceptional results,” noted Heritage President Greg Rohan. “An exceptionally preserved 1921-S Walking Liberty Half graded MS66 by NGC brought $87,400. A 1942/1 Dime certified as MS66 Full Bands by NGC sold for $46,000. A proof 1895 Morgan Dollar, graded PR68 Deep Cameo by NGC, realized $89,700.”

“Proof gold was another standout in the sale,” Rohan continued. “A rare proof 1855 Three Dollar Gold piece from the legendary Eliasberg and Bass collections, graded PR64 Cameo by PCGS, sold for $75,900. A spectacular 1911 Double Eagle, certified as PR67 by NGC, sold for $98,900. A PR65 Deep Cameo 1897 Double Eagle brought $72,450.”

“The rare 1915 Panama-Pacific die trials in silver and copper exceeded expectations,” added Heritage Co-Chairman Steve Ivy. “These pieces were struck before the San Francisco mintmark was added to the die. An example of Judd-1961, a Panama-Pacific Half Dollar struck in silver, sold for $92,000. A Pan-Pac Half struck in copper, Judd-1962, sold for $63,250. A silver PR64 1879 Schoolgirl Dollar, Judd-1608, realized $63,250. Of course, patterns are also a highlight of our upcoming FUN Signature Sale in January.”

The most anticipated lot in the sale, the 1884 Trade Dollar certified by PCGS as PR67, did not meet the reserve, though discussions with potential buyers are ongoing.

The featured collections for the New York Signature Sale included the Dr. Irving Arenberg Collection, Part One; the Jerry Doty Collection; the Morris Geiger Collection, Part One; the Andy Geosits Collection of Barber Halves; the Holman Family Collection, the Jones Beach Estate, Part Two; the V. Michael Collection, Part Two; the New Millennium Collection, Part One; and the Sound Beach Collection.

The prices realized for the New York sales do not include the online-only Bullet Auction, for which bidding continues until November 17 at www.HeritageCoin.com.

Prices realized for all lots in the 2003 November New York Signature Sale are posted online at www.HeritageCoin.com.
