At the 2004 FUN convention, Heritage auctioned the all-time #1 PCGS Registry Set of Dahlonega Mint gold coins, the Green Pond Collection. Just a few weeks later, Heritage offers another major holding of Dahlonega gold, part of the fabulous North Shore Collection.
“Each gold denomination struck by the Dahlonega Mint is represented in the North Shore Collection by at least one major rarity,” asserted Heritage Co-Chairman Steve Ivy. “An 1861-D Gold Dollar, struck by the Confederacy, is graded MS63 by PCGS. An 1854-D Quarter Eagle, certified by PCGS as MS60, is among only a handful of Uncirculated pieces known. An 1854-D Three Dollar Gold, AU58 NGC, is significant for its low mintage of 1,120 pieces and its status as the only D-mint issue of the denomination. The Dahlonega Half Eagles are complete by date, and include spectacular coins such as an 1838-D, MS63 NGC, and an 1861-D, MS61 PCGS, which may have been struck while the mint was under rebel control.”

“The January Long Beach Signature Sale is stocked with significant rarities,” stated Heritage President Greg Rohan. “A pewter 1776 Continental Dollar with CURRENCY spelling is certified as AU58 by PCGS, and is certain to be a highlight of any advanced Early American collection. An 1867 Rays Shield Nickel is graded PR66 Cameo by NGC. The popular low mintage 1927-S Quarter is represented by a PCGS MS64 Full Head example. Just 500 1907 Wire Rim Indian Eagles were struck. Technically, these are patterns, since the legends are separated by periods, but they are also collected as part of the series. The Long Beach sale includes one of the finest known pieces, which is certified as MS66 by NGC.”
