Heritage to Auction 10,000 Lots at Spring Central States Show
Dallas, Texas: Heritage's Central States Signature Auction will be held May 5-8 at the Midwest Airlines Convention Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The seven-session sale features more than 6,500 lots, and is Heritage's largest auction in its long-standing role as the official auctioneer of the Central States Numismatic Society. Heritage-Currency Auctions of America will also host a nearly 3,500 lot Signature Auction, and the Central States Bullet Auction will be available for bidder inspection during the show. The Bullet Auction will take place on May 10 at Heritage's award-winning website, www.HeritageCoin.com.
The Nicholas Collection is an important anchor to the Signature Auction, and it provides one of the finest holdings of Walking Liberty Halves ever assembled. Complete in high grades with many key date duplicates, all coins are certified in first and second generation PCGS holders. Specialists of the series will find many significant opportunities to upgrade their sets and add this desirable pedigree.

The Fox Valley Coin Commemoratives features a fresh consignment of silver commemoratives that remained undisturbed in their holders of issue for more than half a century. It is recommended that bidders take the time to inspect these beautifully and originally toned pieces prior to the Signature Auction, since they are unlikely to resurface again for many years.
Highlights of the Fox Valley Coin Commemoratives:
- Lot 10706, 1937 Antietam Half Dollar, MS68 PCGS
- Lot 10707, 1937 Antietam Half Dollar, MS68 PCGS

Putting together a nearly complete type set of U.S. coinage is a challenging task. To assemble it with key dates, however, is even more daunting. The Virgil Farstad Collection features many series keys such as a near-Gem 1877 cent and an MS63 1886-O Morgan dollar in addition to early copper and gold type in collectible grades. The 20th century gold coins are especially impressive, since many dates are very rare due to Roosevelt's 1933 gold recall.
Highlights of the Virgil Farstad Collection:
- Lot 9707, 1929 Half Eagle, MS63 PCGS
- Lot 9892, 1930-S Eagle, MS63 ANACS
- Lot 10339, 1907 High Relief, Wire Rim Double Eagle, MS61 ANACS

Other featured consignments for the Central States Signature Auction include The Robert Bowling Collection, The Frank O. Frederick Collection, Part 4, The Eric Kreuter Collection, The Pleasant Valley Collection, and The Keith Ramsey Collection.
"The Central States Signature Auction is stocked with significant rarities," stated Heritage President Greg Rohan. "An EG FECIT pewter 1776 Continental Dollar with CURRENCY spelling is certified as MS64 by PCGS, and is certain to be the highlight of any advanced Early American collection. There are two 1794 Dollars in the sale, one of which is close to Mint State in sharpness and is pedigreed to George Walton. The 1916 Standing Liberty Quarter is another legendary rarity, and a magnificent Gem is certified MS65 Full Head by NGC. The 1861-S Paquet Reverse is one of the key dates to the Liberty Double Eagle series, and a sharply struck example is encapsulated as AU53 by NGC."
