Heritage to Offer Philanthropist's "Greenwich Collection"
Dallas, TX: Heritage Numismatic Auctions, Inc. will be offering Part One of The Greenwich Collection in its June 2004 Long Beach Signature Auction. The auction will take place June 3-5 as the Official Auction of the Long Beach Coin Expo. Many of the coins from the Greenwich Collection are being offered in the special Platinum Night catalog that features the finest coins that Heritage is auctioning at Long Beach, in one session on the night of June 3.
"The collector of the magnificent Greenwich Collection," noted Heritage President Greg Rohan, "is a very private man whose philanthropic vision now spreads around the world. A successful physician and entrepreneur in medical imaging and health care ventures in the Northeast, he has turned his attention to the almost unimaginable medical needs of Africa. He has dedicated his abundant energy and resources to building hospitals in Western Africa to combat AIDS and a host of other deadly afflictions."
"The hospitals are fully equipped with X-ray and ultrasound, and typically are built in areas of the greatest instability, where health needs are also greatest due to a total lack of medical facilities and personnel. While he has had numerous opportunities to discuss these geopolitical issues with Desmond Tutu and other African leaders, his heart lies with getting new facilities in place, serving populations with no resources and little hope."
Part Two of the Greenwich Collection will be anchoring the Pittsburgh ANA Signature Auction, and Part Three will be sold in the September Long Beach Signature Auction. Proceeds from these auctions will be used to support the building of additional hospitals.
