Dallas, TX: Heritage's Amazing Comics Auction^TM (ACA) sale #14061 ended Sunday, June 6, with 841 lots offered. 555 bidders placed bids, and 280 of them were successful, for a total sell-through of $87,583.70 for 811 lots (94.76% of lots offered). 15 after-auction lots were purchased by 5 bidders, for a total of $1,034.80.

Amazing Fantasy #15 (Marvel, 1962) CGC Apparent FN+ 6.5 Extensive (P) Cream to off-white pages.
Overstreet rates this book as the most valuable comic of the Silver Age, and no wonder: it features the first appearance and origin of Spider-Man, drawn by his co-creator Steve Ditko. Copies of this comic aren't cheap to come by, but with the premiere of the movie "Spider-Man 2" only weeks away, previous prices may seem like bargains soon. CGC notes, "Restoration includes: color touch, pieces added, tear seals, cover cleaned, reinforced, re-glossed. 'Stan Lee' written on 1st page." Action Comics #102 (DC, 1946) CGC NM 9.4 Off-white to white pages.
Mr. Mxyztplk cover. Wayne Boring cover. Ira Yarbrough, Stan Kaye, Ed Smalle, George Roussos, and W.F. White art. Currently only one copy is ranked higher by CGC. Overstreet 2004 NM- 9.2 value = $775. Realized $1,782.50

The Marvel Family #1 (Fawcett, 1945) Condition: VF.
This key Fawcett issue features the origin and first appearance of one of Captain Marvel's most prominent foes, Black Adam. The origins of Captain Marvel, Mary Marvel, Captain Marvel Jr., and Uncle Marvel are retold. Both the cover and the interior art are by the Captain Marvel artist, C. C. Beck. Overstreet 2004 VF 8.0 value = $1,050. Realized $833.75

Daredevil #1 (Marvel, 1964) CGC FN 6.0 Off-white pages.
Origin and first appearance of Daredevil (Matt Murdock). First appearance of Karen Page, and Foggy Nelson. Jack Kirby and Bill Everett cover. Stan Lee story. Everett art. Overstreet 2004 FN 6.0 value = $615. Realized $776.25

Frank Frazetta - Car, Gangster, Nudes, and American Indian Studies Sketch Original Art (undated).
This sketch has a bit of everything, an old car, a gangster, two gorgeous female nudes, and two American Indian figures. The paper is approximately 7.25" x 7.5", and is in Excellent condition. Signed with the "F.F." monograph at the lower right. Realized $747.50

Space Western #43 Spokane pedigree (Charlton, 1953) CGC NM- 9.2 Off-white to white pages.
Stan Campbell's moody cover is utterly mesmerizing, and Space Western's quirky hybrid genres make features like "Spurs Jackson and his Space Vigilantes" a collectible curiosity. No copy in CGC's current census has earned a higher grade than this beauty from the illustrious Spokane collection. 2" tear on centerfold. Overstreet 2004 NM- 9.2 value = $520. Realized $718.75

Action Comics #23 (DC, 1940) CGC GD/VG 3.0 Light tan to off-white pages.
This issue features two very important firsts for the Man of Steel. It has the first appearance of Lex Luthor, and the first mention of the Daily Planet. Aside from that it also has the first Black Pirate by Sheldon Moldoff, and contains a one panel ad for Spectre in More Fun Comics. Rounding out the list of all things notable, this book is the very first to have the DC bullet on the cover which says "A DC Publication." Joe Shuster cover. Jerry Siegel story.
