Heritage's September Long Beach Signature Auction of U.S. Coins Passes $8 Million; $17 Million Total Sales
Dallas, Texas: Heritage's official Signature Auction of U.S. coins at the Long Beach Coin Expo realized $8,070,765. Heritage also presented three other Signature events in Long Beach, boosting their total for the event to more than $17 million. Heritage World Coins Auctions realized $1.4 million, Heritage Currency Auctions of America passed $5.3 million, and Heritage Sports Collectibles Auctions added $1.95 million. In total, Heritage offered more than 14,000 lots of exciting numismatic material from every area. Additional post-auction sales, as well as the on-line Bullet Auction which closes tonight, will swell the total well past $17 million. The auction, held Sept. 9 through 11, was Heritage's 52nd appearance as the official auctioneer of the Long Beach Coin Expo.
"The Long Beach Signature Auction," opined Heritage President Greg Rohan, "contained many impressive anchor consignments with fascinating stories attached. The four gold ingots from the Bodie Collection, recovered from the wreck of the S.S. Central America, are a very different collection from Otto Clement's rare Double Eagles, or Melvin Souza's Mint State and Proof Buffalo Nickels. Among the several Morgan Dollar collections anchoring the auction, we had collectors investing from 5 years to four decades in their pursuits, with inspiration coming from neighbors and fathers. What a wonderful hobby that each collector can pursue their own vision in their own way."
