Heritage Realizes $12 Million in Palm Beach Auctions
Dallas, Texas: Heritage Numismatic Auctions presented 5,544 lots in its Nov. 4-6 Signature Auction, as the official auctioneer of the Palm Beach Coin Show. Total prices realized were in excess of $11 million, and will eclipse $12 million as bidders compete for Post-Auction Bargains and participate in Heritage's Bullet auction session. The Palm Beach Bullet Auction will be held Nov. 8 at Heritage's award-winning website, www.HeritageCoin.com.
The highlight of the sale was a 1919-D Walking Liberty Half Dollar, MS66 PCGS, which was hammered down for a spectacular $270,250. A 1793 Cohen-4 Half Cent, MS64 Brown PCGS, garnered $120,750, and a vividly toned 1792 Half Disme, Judd-7, VF25 PCGS, sold for $80,500. The finest known 1873-CC Double Eagle, MS63 PCGS, achieved $88,550.

According to Heritage President Greg Rohan, "The rare coin market is red-hot, and it did not surprise us that many lots sold for far above their estimates. Early gold and famous rarities among all series brought exceptional prices."
"Internet bidding was very strong," Rohan continued. "In fact, all but one of the top ten prices realized were purchased by mail or internet bids. More than 2,000 bidders participated in this manner, and only the 2004 FUN Signature Sale had a greater number of internet and mail bidders."
Featured consignors for the Heritage Palm Beach Signature Auction included The Ardmore Registry Collection of Walking Liberty Halves, The Ted Bensinger III Collection, The Harry Berenthal Collection, The A. James Evans Collection of Patterns, The Mark Hayfield Collection of Mint Errors, The Dr. Gary Hogg Collection, The Gene Holland Collection of United States Coins, Part One, The Greg & Lesia Hosch Collection, The North Carolina Collection, and The Rafael Romero Collection of Morgan Dollars.
