The Krist Collection of US Type Coins To Sell at Heritage's FUN 2005 Signature Auction
Dallas, Texas: Heritage Numismatic Auctions will be selling the Krist Collection of American Type Coins in their upcoming FUN Signature Auction, to take place January 12 to 15 in Fort Lauderdale. Heritage is the Official Auctioneer of FUN's 50th Anniversary convention.
"Alfred Krist has consigned a eye-appealing collection of type coins," enthused Heritage President Greg Rohan, "selected over the last two decades. Mr. Krist started collecting in 1970 at the age of 9, "plugging cents into Blue folders." When he could no longer find the coins he needed in circulation, he started to attend local coin shows and making mail purchases. As he grew older, so did the desire to complete full sets of the series he had started as a boy."
"Once I was working and had funds available," detailed Krist, "I started to complete my sets of Lincoln Cents, Buffalo Nickels, Mercury Dimes, and Washington Quarters." After several years pursuing complete sets, Mr. Krist "grew tired of looking at the same designs," so he branched into type coins, and around 1990, began to seriously pursue them. "For me, it was simply more interesting to have so many designs to pursue." Mr. Krist has a special interest in the first issue of each denomination.
Mr. Krist always considered his activities collecting, never as an investment even though at his level of purchasing he knew it was. The results of his pursuit of history and beauty should score high on both counts.
