Heritage Wins Big at NLG Awards Ceremony

Dallas, Texas: Heritage is pleased to announce its receipt of three important awards at the Numismatic Literary Guild's annual awards ceremony that was held August 10 in conjunction with the Philadelphia 2000 ANA Convention.

The most significant award of the trio, Best All-Around Portfolio, was presented to Heritage Co-Chairman Jim Halperin. According to NLG criteria, this award is presented to a writer whose work demonstrates not only a firm grasp of numismatic history, but also the versatility to present numerous topics with equal thoroughness and clarity. "It is a great honor to have received this award," commented Halperin. "My purpose in writing these articles is to get more people interested in the hobby, and also to prod those of us who are already members of the industry to think more critically about the future of our profession." Some of Halperin's award-winning works include: "The Future Series," written for Coin World; "Halperin on Coins," written for the Heritage website HeritageCoins.com; various articles on abacoin.com, collectorcafe.com, and Collector's Universe; and a book entitled Y2K: Three Scenarios.

Heritage's Interactive CatalogDisk? also collected the award for Best Software. The CD made its debut with the May 2000 Central States Signature Sale and was immediately showered with praise from Heritage's clients. Each CD contains the entire catalog, as well as full color scans of every lot in the sale. Moreover, the CatalogDisk? is quick and easy to use, eliminating downloading time and providing links directly to Heritage's website for online bidding. Bob Korver, Heritage's Director of Auctions and a key player in the development of the Interactive CatalogDisk?, stated: "This CD represents the future of rare coin auctions. It provides more photography than our already well-illustrated printed catalogs and, what's more, it's portable, fast, and efficient. I believe that the CatalogDisk? will be a mainstay of Heritage Numismatic Auctions' catalog offerings."

The final award went to Heritage's revolutionary website, HeritageCoins.com. "The Best Website award from the NLG is one of many honors that our website has collected in recent years," noted Heritage's COO Paul Minshull. "Take, for example, Forbes' "Best of the Web" issue in the fall of 1999, which listed HeritageCoins.com as one of the best 100 sites on the entire Internet. With high quality digital images, numismatic articles, an interactive Wantlist program, and numerous other features, it is little wonder that our site is the benchmark against which all other numismatic websites measure themselves. In fact, many of the record prices in our Philadelphia 2000 auction last week involved Internet bidders. Nobody works harder for their consignors than Heritage."
