Heritage to Offer Part Two of The Gene Holland Collection of United States Coins at FUN

Dallas, Texas: Heritage Numismatic Auctions will be selling Part Two of The Gene Holland Collection of United States Coins in their upcoming FUN Signature Auction, taking place January 12 to 15 in Fort Lauderdale. Heritage is the official auctioneer of FUN's 50th Anniversary convention.

"The Gene Holland Collection of United States Coins," noted Heritage President Greg Rohan, "is a fabulous collection covering many series. Mr. Holland has been a U.S. stamp collector for most of his life (and still is), but during the 1960s, as he was accomplishing many of his philatelic goals, he extended his interests into rare coins. He began to pursue coins seriously in the late 1960s and early 1970s, and even did a little dabbling in the silver markets. He attended many coin shows and auctions, and visited numerous coin shops in his business travels across the country."

Mr. Holland's favorite series, his "#1 love is Walking Liberty Halves." He is now in his fifth decade pursuing examples of this fabulous design; he has assembled complete sets in many grades, both circulated and uncirculated. He recalls that his "most challenging set was in Fine grade, especially finding pieces with no problems."

Mr. Holland inherited a piece of Charlotte gold from a relative, and then spent many years pursuing additional specimens as he worked toward completing the series. As he approaches his half-century collecting mark, he advises a new generation of numismatists and philatelists to "collect what you like, because that is what will ultimately be worth the most to you."

Mr. Holland's treasures being sold at FUN include additional selections of Walkers, including his truly awesome 1919-D Half Dollar graded MS65 by PCGS. His collection of Charlotte gold coins includes an 1842-C Small Date Half Eagle, graded AU58 by PCGS, plus many other rarities grading AU or higher. Specialists in several series will be adding the Holland pedigree to their collections at FUN.

Highlights from the Gene Holland Collection of United States Coins, Part Two include:
