Heritage To Auction Unique Gem 1856-S Seated Quarter at FUN 2001
Dallas, Texas: Heritage Numismatic Auctions will offer an MS 65 PCGS 1856-S Seated quarter in its upcoming FUN Signature Sale. According to Jeff Ambio, Heritage Cataloger and long-time Seated quarter collector: "This issue is a major rarity in Mint State, and, to date, NGC and PCGS have certified only eight coins in grades that range from MS 61 through MS 65. The PCGS example that will appear in our FUN Signature Sale is the single finest certified survivor of this early frontier issue, and it is probably the finest known 1856-S quarter. I anticipate strong demand for this piece from Seated quarter specialists and collector who specialize in frontier issues. Of course, the popularity of the 1856-S and 1857-S Liberty double eagles from the S.S. Central America can only help the performance of this conditionally unique San Francisco Mint quarter."
