1870 1C PR66 Red and Brown PCGS. Both sides are bathed in golden-yellow patina, with the reverse showing tinges of reddish-brown color, particularly on some of the leaves of the wreath. The moderately reflective fields establish a mild contrast with the well struck devices, and the radiant surfaces are virtually unblemished. Population: 6 in 66 Red and Brown, none finer (7/04). 1870 1C PR66 Red and Brown PCGS. A rarely encountered early proof, especially with any notable amount of original mint red, as seen here. The fields lack the often-seen crisscrossing die polishing lines and, in our opinion, this piece is much more attractive than the usual proof 1870. Fully struck throughout, the surfaces are bright with only slight browning evident, mostly on the reverse. Population: 5 in 66, 0 finer (7/06).

1870 1C PR67 Red and Brown ICG. Exceptional quality in an early proof Indian cent. This must be one of the finest pre-1880 proofs known. The fields are deeply mirrored and the obverse has fiery orange-red color with a hint of lime-green around the outer periphery, while the reverse is more deeply patinated (hence the Red and Brown designation).
