1939-D 1C MS68 Red PCGS. Lovely lime color graces the center, bounded by salmon-pink hues. A pinpoint-sharp and thoroughly lustrous example. The 1939-D is not rare in Mint State, but few Wheat reverse Cents of any date (steelies excepted) exceed the MS67 Red level. Population: 8 in 68, 0 finer (11/05).

There are no marks of note and only a single tiny toning spot near the base of the left wheat stalk seems to preclude an even higher grade designation. 1939-D 1C MS68 Red PCGS. This is a beautifully toned coin with an olive-orange finish that is free of even the most trivial distraction. Fully impressed in all areas, with crystal clear definition on each of the familiar design details. A single tiny nick, below the N in CENT, is mentioned purely for the sake of accuracy, and as a potential pedigree marker. Just eight examples of this issue have been graded at MS68 Red, by PCGS, with none finer at either service (6/05).
