1879 10C MS67 Prooflike PCGS. F-104a, R.4. The Fortin-104 die pair was used for proofs and business strikes, so the deeply reflective fields of this piece are not unusual, even though the grading services seldom award the Prooflike designation to an example of this issue. Brilliant, cameo-contrasted surfaces reveal only the tiniest marks in the fields, while the frosty devices remain essentially untouched. Minor strike softness on the upper left portion of the wreath is typical of the business strike issue. (PCGS# 84687)
