Description

'1783' Baker-3A Silver Restrike, PR58
Washington & Independence Cent
Far Rarer Than the Copper Versions

1783 1C Washington & Independence Cent, Draped Bust, No Button, Silver Restrike PR58 PCGS. Baker-3A, W-10380, R.6. Engrailed edge. The Large 3, No Button (on date and drapery, respectively) style identifies the mid-19th century silver restrikes produced by W.S. Lincoln, although there is also die rust obvious on President Washington's neck, suggesting a restrike. This is an extremely attractive, lightly circulated example of the silver proof, with pale rose hues competing against tinges of gold and aqua. These pieces are far rarer than their copper counterparts. Listed on page 80 of the 2013 Guide Book.
