1812 1C Small Date MS64 Brown NGC. S-290, B-2, R.1. A die scratch (as made) from the hair below the center dot, and the point of the highest leaf even with the right side of the last S in STATES confirm the variety. Medium brown toning is interrupted on the obverse by traces of blue and golden-tan. Sharp design elements are noted on both sides, except for some softness in the centrils of the first few stars, and the surfaces are relatively smooth. Census: 8 in 64 Brown, 2 finer (3/07). EAC 55.(Registry values: N4719)
