Description

1762-A SOU M French Colonies Sou Marque AU58 PCGS. Breen-421, Vlack-46a, R.7. Struck in the second semester. According to his rarity scale, Robert Vlack had only seen or heard of three to five examples of this particular variety. The earlier issue with the heron symbol. Just a trace of brown toning on the high points, but otherwise a delightful example with virtually all of its silvering and luster intact. The left reverse has a few minor flan flaws and a couple of unimportant thin marks. An extremely rare issue, and an important opportunity for the advanced collector seeking to assemble a diverse set of these French colonial issues. Listed on page 51 of the 2008 Guide Book.
From The Liberty Collection of American Colonial Coinage, Part Three.
