Rare Gem 1852 Seated Quarter
1852 25C MS65 PCGS. Breen-3985. With a mintage of only 177,060 pieces, the 1852 quarter is elusive and can be considered rare in Mint State. It has been often noted that much of this mintage was melted. Most examples come in lower grades. On the reverse of this example there is a thin die crack through the top of ED of UNITED and the ST in STATES. This specimen is toned in light, attractive silver-gray color, with faint champagne accents. The surfaces are lustrous and well preserved. Population: 3 in 65, 3 finer (12/08).
