1875 'Liberty at the Seashore' Twenty Cent Pattern
Judd-1403, PR63

1875 20C Twenty Cents, Judd-1403, Pollock-1546, High R.6, PR63 PCGS. Liberty is seen on the obverse resting upon a globe with the word LIBERTY on it. Holding a small branch, Liberty is facing out to sea with a steam ship in the distance. The design is encompassed by thirteen stars and the date below. A laurel wreath surrounds 20 CENTS on the reverse. The words UNITED STATES OF AMERICA are seen around most of the periphery of the reverse. Struck in silver with a plain edge. More than a dozen examples are known of this popular twenty cent pattern. Lightly hairlined, the surfaces are mostly brilliant as a result with just a tinge of light rose patina at the margins.
