Description
Frosty, Colorfully Toned Gem 1856 Seated Quarter
1856 25C MS66 PCGS. Gem type collectors would be wise to take note of this gorgeous No Motto Seated Quarter. Richly frosted and undeniably smooth, the surfaces are originally toned in rose-gray, gold, and sea-green colors. Full mint frost abounds just under the attractive color. We have handled several poorly struck survivors of this high mintage issue, but this coin is quite well detailed, save for the obverse stars and the lower portion of the eagle. There is an area of die polish above the eagle's head, but this feature is as struck and not distracting. Population: 7 in 66, none finer at either service (3/04).From the JFS Collection.(#5438) (Registry values: P2)
