1914 $10 PR66 NGC. A stellar coin for the specialist that boasts excellent surfaces and delightful, satiny yellow color. The surfaces are clean and attractive, with a couple of trivial hairlines keeping this from perfection. Visually appealing and carefully preserved, the present coin appears to be virtually unchanged since the day it was coined. All proof gold of this period is rare, and when found in Gem or finer grades presents an opportunity for the astute buyer. The proof mintage for the year is 50 pieces, a mere 50 coins struck to memorialize this date in proof. While most apparently survived, there are few that have come down to us that merit such a lofty grade. The proofs of 1914 were struck using a fine sandblast finish.
