1766 1/2P Pitt Halfpenny, Silvered AU55 PCGS. Breen-251. Thin copper planchet displays original 18th-century silvering. Struck by James Smither (1741-97), probably in Philadelphia. Honors British Statesman William Pitt, "Restorer of Commerce," and the "Friends of Liberty and Trade," who opposed the Stamp Act. Listed on page 29 of the 2003 Guide Book.
