Incredibly Well Preserved 1852 Seated Dollar

1852 $1 MS62 PCGS. Incredibly, almost implausibly, we are offering three business strike 1852 Seated Dollars in this sale. This particular example is one of only 10 Mint State coins currently known to NGC and PCGS (5/01). At the MS62 level of preservation, this coin falls in the middle of the grade range among certified Uncirculated survivors. The reverse is exceptionally well defined with no areas of noteworthy striking incompleteness. The obverse is generally sharp, but the peripheral devices are a little softly impressed over the highpoints. A smattering of steel-lilac, cobalt-blue, and tan-gold colors have gathered near the rims, the centers are brilliant. Nicely frosted with modest brightness (and a few striations) in the fields. With a slightly smaller original mintage, the 1852 is a little more difficult to locate in higher grades than the 1851.
