Description

Gem 1864 Pattern Indian Cent, Judd-356 Variety

1864 1C One Cent, Judd-356, Pollock-426, R.6(?), PR65 PCGS. Struck from the same dies as the 1864 No L Indian Cent on a planchet comprised of 90% copper and 10% tin. The edge is plain. Outwardly, this coin looks much like a regular issue copper-nickel Indian Cent. The surfaces, however, are a little brighter with a silver-tan sheen that is streaked with honey color through the central obverse. Frosty in texture with boldly impressed features, there is a well concealed spot at the top of the Indian's headdress.
