On January 8, 2015, we presented Part I of the Donald G. Partrick Collection in what was easily the most extraordinary group of United States colonial coins ever offered at Heritage Auctions. Many would argue it ranks among the most impressive auctions of early U.S. colonials to this very day.
Now, we are extremely proud and excited to announce that Heritage will present the balance of the Donald G. Partrick Collection. It will be offered in a series of auctions over the next year, both in conjunction with major numismatic shows and in specialized online presentations. When all is said and done, the most significant and spectacular collection of American colonial coins will have changed hands, and many irreplaceable treasures will grace a new generation's fine collections.
The Partrick Collection was formed over 50 years -- with the able assistance of Jon Hanson, who channeled Donald Partrick's boundless energy toward acquiring only the finest examples of the greatest rarities. Fortunately, several historic collections crossed the auction block in those fertile days -- Garrett, Brand, Roper, Taylor, and Norweb to name a few -- and opportunities arose to acquire many other important and uniquely specialized sets, plus an array of individual, one-of-a-kind rarities.
Donald G. Partrick displayed an amazing capacity to learn and focus on his goals. His interests were wide-ranging within the challenging colonial spectrum, broadening into federal half cents and specialized Americana. As a result, there are coins for every collecting interest (and pocketbook) within the collection -- the ultimate tribute to Mr. Partrick, whose keen eye and tenacious perseverance will benefit everyone who studies, views, and bids during this incomparable series of auctions.
