Description
1939 Jefferson Nickel, MS67 Full Steps
Doubled Monticello, FS-801
1939 5C Doubled Monticello MS67 Full Steps PCGS. FS-801.
This delightful Superb Gem offers sharply detailed design elements
throughout, with full steps definition on the reverse. The
brilliant surfaces are impeccably preserved and radiate vibrant
mint luster on both sides. The reverse is strongly doubled, with
the effects most apparent on the lettering in MONTICELLO and FIVE
CENTS. The right side of the building also shows significant
doubling. The FS-801 is a popular Cherrypickers variety and
is listed on page 135 of the 2016 Guide Book. Sought-after
in all grades and conditions, the FS-801 is particularly elusive in
high grade, and specimens always command high premiums. This
variety is only seen on coins with the Reverse of 1940. The present
coin is the single-finest certified example of this rare variety
