1879 Shield Nickel, Pastel-Toned PR67+
Finest Certified at PCGS
1879 5C PR67+ PCGS. CAC. Proofs from 1879 are surprisingly
scarce when one considers that 3,200 pieces were struck. PR67 is
the finest PCGS has certified (16 in PR67, 1 in PR67+), and only
one piece is possibly finer, a PR68 at NGC (9/16). This is a lovely
example that displays pale pastel rings of color around each side.
Strike details are complete on each side, and we see no distracting
