Description

1895-O Barber Dime, MS64
Cornerstone for an Advanced Collection

1895-O 10C MS64 PCGS. The 1895-O has the well-deserved reputation as the key issue to the Barber dime series, excepting the nearly unobtainable 1894-S. Choice Uncirculated or finer pieces are scarce and tightly held when obtained, making this New Orleans issue a stopper in both circulated and Uncirculated grades. Just 440,000 pieces were struck.

The present coin is album-toned in steel-blue and gunmetal-gray shades with faint reddish-gold accents. Mint luster radiates from the smooth and satiny surfaces. The fields and devices are nearly mark-free save for a tiny tick high on the cheekbone, perhaps the only grade-limiting factor, because the strike is uncompromisingly sharp on both sides. An opportunity beckons for the Barber dime specialist. Population: 8 in 64, 12 finer (11/16).(Registry values: N4719)
