    Description

    1876 Twenty Cent, PR65 Cameo
    1,150 Proofs Struck

1876 20C PR65 Cameo NGC. BF-4, R.4. This variety, with a die scratch in the dentils below (T)WE(NTY), is apparently very rare among proofs. The odd-denomination twenty cent piece enjoys an enduring popularity. Its issuance was tied to Western silver interests and the pursuit of another outlet for Comstock silver. Proofs are popular with collectors, with their low mintages, deeply mirrored fields, and frosted devices. Such is this case here. Both sides are practically untoned and free of significant distractions.
Ex: ANA Signature (Heritage, 8/2010), lot 4628; Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 2/2013), lot 3770.
    From The E.B. Strickland Collection. (Registry values: N4719) (NGC ID# 27H3, PCGS# 85304)

    Weight: 5.00 grams
