Description

William IV gold Proof Sovereign 1831, S3829B, WR261 (R3), plain edge, very rare, PR64 Ultra Cameo NGC, deep gold toning, the obverse frosted and hazy, the reverse delightful and brilliant. The color of this proof is just stunning. Rims are close to perfect. The proof strike is deep and complete. A long, curling strike-through (piece of lint or metal on the die when struck) appears to the left of the base of the portrait, in the open field. One of the hardest sovereigns to locate in fine condition; should be worth more than the value stated in SCBC.
